 What the hell does that do?

 This thread is for all the special features we have here on the site that you might enjoy checking out and using. Hopefully this will also answer any questions you have regarding any of the features. It is suggested that you read through this and familiarize yourself with everything before you get started.

The Blogs
Your very own journal on the site. Every registered member automatically gets one. Please note that all entries will be public. We suggest that you keep sensitive material to yourself or direct them through the private messaging or email features.

Blog Profile
First things first, you should go to your blog control panel and fill out all the feeds to help personalize your blog/profile. Check out visceral's page to see what you get when you have most of them filled in. For future reference, the link to the control panel is located at the top of the homepage just below the header.

Integrated Features - some of the features below are external websites you might want to consider signing up for. We suggest but don't require the use of those sites. They're just fun!
  1. Lib.rario.us - a place to catalog and review your media collection, whether it be books, DVDs, CDs, and more. This site was dreamt up and created by us, the administrators. Check it out. Once you've signed up and added items to your library, choose the list you'd like to feature and click on the little blue rss button near the top center of the page. Copy the url and past it into the lib.rario.us field provided on your blog control panel. Check this thread for more info.
  2. Shoutbox, events, classifieds (On/Off) - these should be self-explanatory.
  3. Weather - enter your zip code and you'll get the current weather at the top of the page.

  1. Flickr - "almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world". Upload your photos & videos and share them with the rest of us. Go to your photostream, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the little orange rss button. Copy the url and past it into the flickr field provided on your blog control panel. Check here for more info.
  2. Twitter - Tell us what you are doing right now! in 140 characters or less. Once you sign up, go to your profile, scroll down to the bottom and click the little white rss button. Copy the url and past it into the twitter field provided on your blog control panel.
  3. Last.fm - Tell us what you've been listening to from your computer, phone, iPod, or internet stream. Once you sign up, just put your username in the last.fm field provided on your blog control panel.
SketchBlog Mode
Want to add a sketch to your blog? Go ahead! Click the "Add A Sketch" link at top of the homepage and go crazy. When it posts, the sketch/drawing will be inserted at the top of the blog and your text will follow.

Personal Photo
In your forum control panel (link can be found at the top of the homepage as well as within the forums) go to Change Personal Photo and upload or link to a photo of yourself. We ask that the photo you use be of you. It can be artistic and doesn't have to be portrait style. It just has to be you. If you wish to not have a photo of yourself on there, leave it blank. We ask this because we may have something in the future that may feature your photo.

Private Messaging
For those messages/topics that are too sensitive for the public's eyes, direct them to other members via their private message inbox.
Please note that this does not give you the right to harass, flame or insult other members or staff. Should such actions be brought to our attention, we may investigate and take administrative actions accordingly.

Links
Got a link you just have to share? Share it here. Check out everyone else's links while you there.

Forums
A place to share, discuss, read, learn, teach, etc. Need help getting started, check here for some simple instructions. Enjoy.

Calendar and Events
Check the calendar for upcoming events. Know of any that aren't there? Post them. A list of events that are within the next week will show up on the homepage. A link to a more detailed list will bring you to a section where you can see how many people are attending an event and who they are. Planning on attending an event? All you have to do to let us know is click the attend box and you're in.

For special events, you can post about it in the events forum as well as the calendar to spread the word even more.

EI Shop
The Shop is a collection of items for sale from our very own talented Guam-made friends and family. Know anyone that has stuff to sell, direct them there and we'll do what we can to get them on there. Check it out, tell everyone about it, and let's build a community that helps support each other.
